Our Story
Why ‘Baba’?
In Persian, baba means father — the keeper of family recipes, the one who gathers everyone around the table. Our name is a tribute to that role: to the patience of slow cooking, the generosity of a shared meal, and the quiet pride of feeding the people you love. Every plate we serve is an attempt to recreate that feeling of being welcomed home.
The Manchester Bee
The worker bee has been Manchester’s emblem for over a century — a symbol of industry, community and resilience. As a Persian kitchen rooted in Chorlton, we carry that spirit with pride. Baba is a meeting of two cultures: the warmth of Iranian hospitality and the hard-working heart of the city we now call home.
Our Food Philosophy
We believe authenticity is non-negotiable. Our saffron is sourced from the fields of Khorasan, our herbs are picked fresh each morning, and our kebabs are grilled over real charcoal — never shortcuts. Traditional techniques passed down through generations guide every khoresh that simmers for hours and every grain of rice steamed to a delicate tahdig crust. This is Persian cooking with nothing lost in translation.
